Drafting Bulletproof Timelines
A late makeup artist ruins the photographer's schedule. Master your timing.
The Mathematics of the Morning
Never estimate. Standardize your timing blocks. The industry standard allocation is:
| Service | Time Allocation |
|---|---|
| Bride Makeup | 60 - 90 minutes |
| Bridesmaid/MOG Makeup | 40 - 45 minutes |
| Setup/Unpack | 15 - 20 minutes |
| Buffer / Touch-ups | 30 minutes (End of schedule) |
The "Hard Stop"
Your hard stop is not when the ceremony starts. Your hard stop is when the photographer needs the bride for first look or bridal portraits. If the ceremony is at 4:00 PM, and photos start at 2:00 PM, everyone must be dressed by 1:30 PM. Your hard stop for touch-ups is 1:00 PM.
